Carol Whitten King, age 79, of Anderson, SC, loving wife to the late Willis Milton King until his death in 2016, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Sovah Health in Danville, VA. Born January 23, 1943, in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late James W. Whitten and Janie Ammons Whitten. She loved helping other people, dancing, cooking peanut butter pies for Rainey Hospice House, gardening and all types of flowers, and especially spending time with her beloved family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Gethsemane Baptist Temple. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Chastain (Donna), and Randy King; daughter, Sherry Nester (Allen Hall); brother, David Whitten; sister, Brenda Wood; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with a great-granddaughter on the way; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Whitten. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Temple. The funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. A private burial will held at a later date at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes. Flowers will be accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
