LEWISDecember 24, 1929 - August 14, 2010ANDERSON, SCCarol Vaught Lewis, age 80, of 106 Lullwater Parkway, was called to her reward on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Born on December 24, 1929 in Conway, South Carolina, Carol was the daughter of the late John M. Vaught, Sr. and Ruth Thompson Vaught. She attended Winthrop University. She was the devoted wife of Jack L. Lewis and the mother of four. As a staunch Christian, she was a willing volunteer in St. John's United Methodist Church and in social projects. A multi-talented person with many interests, ranging from intricate needlework to antiques, Carol still found time to lavish her love on friends and family. As owner of the Whitehall Garden Center, she was known for her impeccable integrity in business and personal interest in her associates. Loving survivors include her husband, Jack L. Lewis; two daughters, Ms. Marilyn Terry and Ms. Rachael Hentigan, both of Florida, and two sons, Olin Paul Lewis of Clemson, SC and Jeff T. Lewis of Honea Path, SC; sister, Vina V. Floyd of Kingstree, SC; and brothers, John M. Vaught, Jr. of Conway, SC and James B. Vaught of Myrtle Beach, SC. Mrs. Lewis is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom are much loved.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by a sister, Jean V. Powell, and three brothers, Paul M. Vaught, Thomas B. Vaught and Harry R. Vaught.The Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 16, 2010 at 3:00 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dan Batson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the church.In lieu of floral contributions, the family asks that memorials be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of St. John's United Methodist Church, 515 South McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29624.A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.THE McDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME is in charge of the arrangements.
