.CAROLYN FRANCES BUBEK November 4, 1921 - October 21, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Carolyn Frances Bubek, age 90, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was the devoted wife of 64 years to Harold Francis Bubek of the home and the loving mother to the late Richard Joseph Bubek, Peter Thomas Bubek of Townville, SC, Virginia Helen Bubek of Anderson, SC, and Lorraine Marie Higgins of Williamston, SC. She was the loving grandmother to Matthew Robert Higgins. Born in Franklin Square, NY, she was the only child of the late Albert Smith and the late Agatha Hurbert Smith. She was the Valedictorian of the graduating class of 1939 of Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, NY. She turned down a scholarship to Cornell University to support her parents. After studying finance in high school, she worked as a teller and payroll manager at Island Federal Bank in Franklin Square, NY. After the war she moved to West Hampstead, NY and raised a family with her devoted husband, Harold. She and Harold retired to Lake Hartwell outside of Anderson in 1985. She was a long time parishioner of St. Catherine of Sienna in Franklin Square and of St. Joseph's in Anderson, SC. Carol was for a time, a volunteer at Meals on Wheels and a member of Anderson County Extension Homemakers Council. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Joseph Bubek. The Memorial service will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 112 Tolly Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
