Susan Carolyn Kelly Segers, age 74, of Anderson, SC, loving wife to David Segers for 53 years, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, at Rainey Hospice House. Born August 17, 1946, in Rutherfordton, NC, she was the daughter of the late George McIntosh Kelly and Ruby Inez Cowan Kelly. Carolyn spent her career as a public school librarian. She retired after 40 years of service serving a multitude of schools throughout her community including: T.L. Hanna, McCants Middle, Townville Elementary, West Franklin Elementary, and Homeland Park Elementary. She was an avid reader and loved to share her joy of reading, especially with children. She was a devout Christian, as well as a dedicated and involved member of First Presbyterian Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for over 20 years, was an office volunteer, a Senior High Youth Advisor, and loved sending cards. Carolyn will be forever remembered as a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be truly missed. In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by her sons, Dave Segers (Karen), and Jacob Segers (Deven); brothers, Michael Kelly (Marian), and Ray Kelly; sister, Kay Dalton (Mike); and three grandchildren, Madison, Merritt, and Manning. The family will receive friends Friday, August 20, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the new reception center of First Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be held in the sanctuary at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Dennis Tedder and Rev. Chad Wright-Pittman officiating. A private family committal service will be held at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, in Union Mills, NC.
