CATHLEEN WHITTEN November 20, 1919 - August 26, 2006ANDERSON, SCMrs. Cathleen Whitten, age 86 of 311 Simpson Road, formerly of 507 Smithmore Street and wife of the late James Delwyn Whitten, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Anderson Place.Born in Anderson, SC on November 20, 1919, Mrs. Whitten was the daughter of the late Jessie James Allen and Ira Arveta Allen. She was a former employee of the Singer Company in the Winding Department and also a former employee of Wal-Mart on Liberty Highway. She was a charter member of Clearview Baptist Church in Anderson.Surviving are her sons, Jessie Delwyn Whitten (Buddy) and James Douglas Whitten and his wife, Dianne Wright Whitten; four grandchildren, Kim Whitten Harrison and her husband, Mark, Karen Whitten Shirley, Mark Whitten and Chad Whitten and one great-grandchild, Kristian Whitten Shirley, all of Anderson and a sister, Margie Sanders of Anderson.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Allen; three sisters, Inez Allen Ricker, Evelyn Allen McClellan, all of Anderson and Ruth Allen Love of Barstow, California.A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 4:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Jack Couch.The family will be at 507 Smithmore Street, Anderson, SC.The family suggest flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Clearview Baptist Church, 3617 N.
