Charlene Vickery Wewers, age 60, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born June 27, 1962, in Hartwell, GA, she was a daughter of Charles Linder Vickery and Betty Jane Caudell Vickery. Charlene was a special education teacher and sign language interpreter. She taught religious education to elementary students at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson. She was an entertainer and enjoyed spreading the light of Christ through her talents as a singing telegram performer and professional clown. She loved tending to her rose garden and spending quality time with her family. Charlene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Frederick John "Fritz" Wewers, Jr.; son, Frederick John "Fritz" Wewers, III (Alexandra) of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Laura Amber Hillard (Brandon) of Spartanburg, SC; and sisters, Sandra Barnes and Sheri Richey (Kenneth) both of Anderson, SC. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 6:00 pm with visitation to follow from 6:30-8:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Philip S. Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, 355 Cedar Springs Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
