ACKER August 16, 1912 - August 9, 2005ANDERSON, SCMr. Charles Clinton Acker, age 92, of 3223 Highway 29 South, Anderson, SC, husband of the late Kathryn Bledsoe Acker, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC.Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late William L. Acker and Gertrude Stone Acker. He began his career in textiles where he was a Boy Scout Leader and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, which led to his position as a Boy Scout Executive Director in Oconee and Pickens Counties. He was employed with Sears Roebuck & Company and retired from Anderson Restaurants as a training director for Burger King Operations. He was a member of North Anderson Baptist Church, the Believers Sunday School class, the D.M.A. Group and the Senior Choir.Survivors include a son, Charles L. Acker of Tamassee, SC; daughters, Kathryn A. Carver of the home and Mabel A. Templeton of Greenwood, SC; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie L. Acker, James P. Acker and Gerald S. Acker.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 3:30 pm at North Anderson Baptist Church by the Reverends Bill Rigsby and Doug Saxon. Interment will follow in Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, SC.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
