Banister, 78, husband of Ruth Billings Loftis Banister of 716 College Avenue, died Tuesday, April 04, 2006 at the Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Belton, SC on April 30, 1927, Mr. Banister was a son of the late Charlie C. Banister and Jessie Looney Banister. He was a former employee of The McDougald Funeral Home with 21 years of service and retired from the United States Postal Service after 15 years of service. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church. He was a member of the Ruff Masonic Lodge #130. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Billings Loftis Banister of the home; son, W. Duane Loftis and his wife, Phyllis of Anderson; a brother, Donald Banister of Belton; two sisters, Evvie Lee Timmerman of Greenville and Margie Hodges of Anderson; two grandchildren, Zachary W. Loftis and Jennifer L. Speer and a great-granddaughter, Christina Madison Speer.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Laura Mae Banister, Jonnie Ruth B. Hand and brothers, Milton and Daniel Banister.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Steve Dickey, Rev. Ralph Carter and Rev. Kenneth Wright.
