Charles Franklin Byrum, Sr., 73, of Anderson passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 9, 1945 in Iva, he was a son of the late Frank and Willie Edna Chambers Byrum. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother; his sister, Leila Byrum Tiller and brother, Grover Byrum. Charles retired from Anderson County Solid Waste after 20 years of service. He was a member of Exchanged Life Center (formerly Midway Community Church). He was very active in his church, which he loved. He served as a deacon there for 20 years. He loved hunting with his son, Charles, Jr and fishing with his daughter, Tammy. He enjoyed watching train documentaries and was a big Clemson fan. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Wiley Byrum of the home; son, Charles Byrum, Jr. (Melissa) and daughter, Tammy Byrum Bridges all of Anderson; grandchildren, Morgan Grace and Madison Hope Byrum whom he adored and loved spending time with; also survived by his brothers, Clinton, Ray, Roger, Billy, Bobby and Gerald Byrum; sisters, Louise Daritey and Peggy Hayes and special friends, Butch Morrison, Richard Charping, Linda White and Juanita Wicker. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be in the chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Rev. Dan "Butch" Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Exchanged Life Center Building Fund, PO Box 75, Anderson, SC 29622.
