Charles Edward Gibson, Sr., age 73, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Charleston, WV, in October 18, 1941, he was the son of the late George and Vivian Burdette Gibson. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. He lived in Melbourne, FL for many years and was the owner of Gibson Plastering and Stucco for over 40 years. He was also a minister for more than 50 years, retiring in 2005 and moving to South Carolina. He was a member of Tabernacle of The Lord in Townville, SC and was a strong family man. He is survived by his children, Charles E. Gibson, Jr. (JoAnn), of Melbourne, FL, David Anthony Gibson (Morrisa), of Viera, FL, Rev. Luke Gibson, Sr. (Lisa), of Westminster, SC, Susan Whitehead (Bruce), of Westminster, SC, Marcie Velie (Nick), of Westminster, SC and Tammy Ingram (Edward), of Palm Bay, FL; a brother, Juan Ruperto, of Cleveland, OH; 23 grandchildren and14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Irene Burrows Gibson; a brother, Larry Burdette; and a sister, Maxine Rivera. A Service honoring the life of Mr. Gibson will be held at the Tabernacle of The Lord in Townville, SC on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Luke Gibson officiating. He will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens in Westminster. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle of The Lord, 12950 West Oak Highway, Townville, SC 29689.
