Charles Clayton Glenn, age 75, of, Taylors, SC, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born January 26, 1948, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late James D. Glenn and Nellie Harbin Glenn. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Sybil McAbee, Kathy Norris, and Martha Hart; and stepson, Dusty Crump. He was retired from Great Dane Trailers after driving semi-trucks for 33 years. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany and Vietnam. Joe, as everyone called him, learned the value of hard work and family loyalty at an early age. He was one of thirteen children; nine girls and four boys. He and his brothers quickly found out; it never pays to argue with a female. Joe loved to sing; he could sing any type of music but loved country. Fishing was almost an addiction. He loved to fish. Creek, lake, ocean or even a mudhole, would find him casting for the next big one. There was never any doubt that NASCAR gave him the most enjoyment. Before the green flag descended and the cars revved the engines, he would announce that race's winner. Joe enjoyed life and loved his family. There was never any doubt that Joe loved all of his family. Joe is survived by his wife, Donna "DeeDee" Glenn, children, Misty Hackney, Joel Glenn, James Glenn, and Suzanne Rathbone; stepchild, Misty Howard; siblings, Linda Pierson, Terry Glenn, Rita Jones, Marvin Glenn, Patricia Galloway, Melissa Burdette, Dot Pearson, Susan Glenn, and Oral Glenn; seventeen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating.
