Charles Reuben Hawkins, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Born on May 19, 1932, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Charlie Mattison and Lola Belle Ashley Hawkins. For sixty-two years he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Drew Willie Graham Hawkins until her death. Mr. Hawkins was an extremely loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graciously accepted the duties that came with the additional titles of "Paw Paw" and "Pop." Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Mobley and her husband, Charles, of Lancaster, SC; a sister, Edith Vann of Anderson; two grandchildren, April Mobley of Lancaster, SC, and Chris Mobley and his wife, Melanie, and two great-grandchildren all of Rock Hill, SC. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Drew, Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucia Jones, Cleo Wood, Margaret Kay, and Dorothy Creamer; six brothers, Lansen, Howard, Bill, Warren, Claude and Robert Hawkins. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Charles R. Hawkins will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Long Branch Baptist Church, with Reverend Wayne Watson officiating. Interment will follow at the Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The Hawkins family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the church social hall prior to the service on Wednesday. At other times the family will be at the home of Edith Vann. We will cherish the love and the memories today, tomorrow and forever.
