Charles Furman Hendrix, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 28, 1932, he was the son of the late James Walter Hendrix and the late Bertha G. Wimpy Hendrix. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne. Charles retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas after 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Iva, SC He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Daisy Mary Foster Hendrix; sons, Tony Hendrix and his wife Michelle, of Starr, SC, Furman Hendrix and his wife Sandy, of Anderson, SC and Jim Hendrix and his wife Marie, of Starr, SC; daughters, Wanda H. Herron and her husband Levis and Michele Hendrix, both of Starr, SC; a sister, Dorothy Whitmire, of Pendleton, SC; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin, Paul, William, and Bruce Hendrix; sisters, Gladys Rogers, Alma Hunnicutt, and Edith DiBenedetto. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Temple with Reverends Wendell Rhodes, Ken Whitt, Mike Thomas, and his grandson, Andy Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery with military honors.
