Charles N. Horne, III, 66, of Loganville, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.
Born February 25, 1958, in Oak Park, IL he was the son of the late Charles N. Horne, Sr. and Coda Wilson Horne. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Emily Horne; a daughter-in-law, Susan Clinkscales Horne and a son-in-law, Ron Cox.
He joined the US Navy in 1976 and traveled the world for 18 years serving his country. He retired in 1994 as an E8 Senior Chief. During his Navy career, he spent time in Japan, Hawaii, and Diego Garcia. Charlie was good at mechanics and welding and used to enjoy building rail buggies. He had a sincere love for his family and friends. Due to a boating accident in his late thirties, Charlie spent the rest of his adult life disabled.
He is survived by a sister, Shannon Cox of Thomaston, GA; a brother, Christopher E. Horne of Knoxville, TN and Alexander W. Horne of Loganville, GA; a niece, Colleen Hargis of Thomaston, GA; nephews, Kelly Hargis of Dunedin, FL, Kenneth Oliver Horne of South Dakota and Mason Horne of Loganville, GA and a great niece, Emily Hargis.
The funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 1:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.
