The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, South Carolina 29621864-224-4343OBITUARY MIKE HUNTJULY 24, 1961 - May 24, 2009ANDERSON, SC ' Charles Michael 'Mike' Hunt, age 47, of 124 Maplewood Road, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson, SC, on July 24, 1961, he was a son of the late Charlie Rayford Hunt and Virginia Whitworth Hunt Buchanan and was a 1979 graduate of Westside High School. He was a Residential Home Builder, co-owner of D & H Development, and a member of the Anderson Homebuilders Association.During his twenty-year service as a dedicated Fireman, Mr. Hunt was a member and former Assistant Chief of the Centerville Fire Department ' where he was chosen as 2008 Firefighter of Year. In addition, he was selected as Anderson County 2008 Firefighter of the Year. He has formerly served as a member of the District Five Ladder Team, and as a director for the District Five Training Association. Mr. Hunt was presently serving as District Five Fire Commissioner.While a former member of North Anderson Baptist Church, Mr. Hunt served as a Deacon and a member of the Properties Committee. In recent, he was an active member of NewSpring Church where he served on the Security Team and the Handy-Man Team. He was always passionate about church missions!A devoted son, husband, father, brother, 'pop-pop', and friend, he is survived by his wife of nearly twenty-five years, Lisa Poole Hunt; their daughters, Mikal Hunt and Molly Hunt; and beautiful granddaughter, Emma Hunt, all of the home; his stepfather and mother, Herschel 'Buck' & Virginia Hunt Buchanan, of Anderson; his sister, Lynn Lee of Anderson; his brothers, Paul Hunt of Anderson, Greg Hunt of Anderson, and Tim Hunt of New York; his stepbrother, 'Buck' Buchanan, Jr. of Hendersonville, NC; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry & Denese Poole, also of Anderson.A Service to Celebrate the Life of Mike Hunt will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at NewSpring Church conducted by the Reverend Perry Noble, the Reverend Jake Beaty, and the Reverend Bill Rigsby.
