Obituary

Charles R. Johnson Charles R (Chuck) Johnson of Townville, South Carolina lost his battle with ALS on July 9th. He passed quietly at his home with his wife and two of his brothers at his bedside. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Montgomery; his son Charles (Chip) Johnson of Columbia, MD; three brothers, William (Donna), Richard (Carol) and Donald all from Florida; a brother-in-law William "Peedie" Montgomery (Linda) of Hickory, N;, seven nieces and nephews; and seventeen great nieces and nephews. Born on April 7, 1940, in Shreveport, LA, he was the son of the late C.R. Johnson and the late Clara Johnson. Chuck was a 1963 graduate of Florida State University and began his career as a co-op with Martin Marietta. He worked at various company facilities in Orlando and Ocala, Florida, The Dalles, Oregon, Goldendale, Washington and Baltimore, MD. After 35 years and increasingly more responsible positions, Chuck retired from Martin in 1997. Chuck and Stephanie spent their available time as avid readers, boating, hunting, fishing and they traveled whenever possible. He was a member of the Fair Play Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fair Play Presbyterian Church with Reverend Debbie Foster and Reverend Mel Davis officiating. Chuck believed children's dreams should be fulfilled and was an avid supporter of the Outdoor Dream Foundation. Knowing the pleasure that children and their families derived and the many wonderful memories that were made to be cherished, he requested that in lieu of food or flowers you please consider a donation in Chuck's memory to the Outdoor Dream Foundation, P.O.
