CHARLIE MIZE February 18, 1928 - May 18, 2008ANDERSON, SCMr. Charles 'Charlie' Edward Mize, age 80, husband of Dot Mize of 108 Mayci Way, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Anderson, SC on February 18, 1928, Mr. Mize was a son of the late Marvin Mize and Robie Mullinax Mize. He was superintendent of the Press Room at Anderson Independent-Mail for 34 years and was the co-owner and promoter of Anderson Speedway for over 20 years. He was the owner and operator of racetracks throughout Northeast Georgia. Mr. Mize was a member of Andersonville Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Dot Mize of the home; daughter, Teresa Simpson and her husband, Freddy of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Debra Traynum of Anderson, SC; brothers, Howard and George Mize, both of Anderson; grandchildren, David and Diane Smith of Inman, SC, Kevin and Jeri Ann Smith of Anderson, Jason and Meredith Smith of Anderson and Shane Simpson of Covington, GA and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Smith; stepson, Tommy Hewin and sister, Gilbretta 'Patsy' Fant. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Bruce Evans. His grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
