He was a graduate of Honea Path High School and received a B.S. degree from Erskine College and a M.S. degree from East Tennessee State University. Mr. Murdock retired after forty years from D.H.E.C. as Appalachia I Administrator. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Doris Bradberry Murdock, of the home; sons: Charles Bruce Murdock MD, and wife, Terry Murdock, of Spartanburg, and Brent Alan Murdock PhD, and wife, Judy Murdock, of Belton; grandchildren: Melanie Baker and husband, Chris Baker, of Charlotte, Kimberly Murdock of Philadelphia, Amanda Murdock of New York, Kelila Murdock, Charlie Murdock, Hadassah Murdock, and Duane Murdock, all of Belton; great grandson, Chase Baker of Charlotte; brother, David Lee Murdock and wife, Margene Murdock, of Belton and their daughter, Kerry Lynn Cordes and husband, Tim Cordes, of Cocoa Beach, FL.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Edward Ray Murdock.The Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm on Wednesday, February 4th, at the funeral home.The family is at the residence, 3040 Trail Road, Belton.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
