Charles Edwin Purdy, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. Born September 6, 1942, in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Columbus Teasley Purdy and Annie Lou Minish Purdy. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Juddy Whitfield. Charles retired from the South Carolina National Guard as a Master Sergeant E-8 after 38 years of service. He enjoyed working on his farm, caring for others and spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelby Jean Love Purdy; sisters, Linda Adams of Easley and Kathy Hayes (Steve) of Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks is extended to Matthew Hayes and Ray Calhoun for their loving care. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev.
