IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles F.
Swaney
November 18, 1939 – January 12, 2025
Charles Franklin Swaney, 85, of Pendleton, SC passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at AnMed Health Center.
Born, November 18, 1939, in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late John J. Swaney and the late Kathleen Moore Swaney. He was married for 54 years, until her death in 2017, to the late Margie Brown Swaney.
Charlie, as he was affectionately called, worked as a machinist for TRW-Greenfield and was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship Church as long as his health permitted. He was a kind, humble and devout man. There was never any doubt in Charlie being a child of God. He was soft-spoken, but when he prayed the heavens opened. He never met a stranger and was the epitome of a southern gentleman. He will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of calling him a friend and especially by his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Rick Boynton (Anita) and Russell Swaney (Sandy); grandchildren, Jeremy Boynton (Maggie), Lee Boynton (Stacey), and Ryan Swaney; great grandchildren, Payden, EllaGrace, Porter and Alex Boynton; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins and brothers in Christ.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Margie, he is predeceased by a brother, Clifford Swaney; sisters, Mildred Crumpton, Donnie Albertson, Bobbie Lockaby, and Carolyn Vickery; and his grandson, Alex Swaney.
The family will gather at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, January 17, from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm to greet family and friends. A service to honor the life of Charlie will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Bugg and Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
