Charles Talmadge Whitworth, Sr., age 79, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born March 4, 1942, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Charles R. Whitworth and Ruth Odell Pelfrey Whitworth. Mr. Whitworth was retired from Glen Raven Mill and a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Ruby Bryant Salyers Whitworth; sons, Charles T. Whitworth, Jr. and Lee Edward Salyers, Jr.; daughters, Jessie Lee Floyd, Wanda Odell Cherry, Tracy Ann Gifford, Mary Ellen McClamrock, and Loretta Lynn Farmer; sister, Formelia Ann Gilstrap; special grandson who was raised in the home, Patrick Allen Gifford; 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Alvin, and Marshall Whitworth; and sister, Nellie Maddox. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Krieger officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E Calhoun St, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at the residence.
