CHARLIE 'PAPA J' MATHEWS October 7, 1919 - February 4, 2007PENDLETON, SCMr. Charlie Jay Mathews, age 87, formerly of Timms Mill Road, Pendleton, SC, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Hart Care Center in Hartwell, GA.Born in Anderson County, SC on October 7, 1919, Mr. Mathews was a son of the late Charlie Mathews and Leona Kelly Mathews. He was retired from LaFrance Mills with over thirty years of service. He was a member of Pendleton Masonic Lodge #34, the Woodmen of the World and Lebanon Baptist Church. He is survived by a special friend, Wanda Cantrell of Anderson, SC; his son, Thomas W. Mathews and his wife, Sue of Dade City, FL; two grandchildren, Todd A. Mathews of Brandon, FL, Joanna Lea Schwend of Dale City, FL; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Loani, Kai, Mya and Tyler.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Lewis Mathews and two sisters, Ida Mae Mathews McKnight and Ruby Lee Mathews Morgan.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Sam Chasteen.
