Charles Earl Richey, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his home.

Born March 26, 1933, in Anderson County, SC, he was one of 13 children born to the late George Richey and Eddie Taylor Richey. He was preceded in death by his 9 brothers and 3 sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Coker Richey and their infant daughter.

Charlie was a graduate of Boys High Class of 1952 and Tri-County Technical College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict and stationed in England. He was a retired sheet metal mechanic with McAlister Heating and Air. He was an avid golfer, loved sports, and was a member of the American Legion Post 14. Charlie was a faithful charter member of Pope Drive Baptist Church which he loved so dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, June McClain Richey; children, Charley G. Richey, Anthony E. Richey (Candace), Debbie R. Newton, Darlene Alexander (Scott), Louis Johnson (Jan), Dennis A. Vickery, and Pamela Jackson (Jon); 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 12:00-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Matthew Danuser officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
