MARTIN August 7, 1950 - August 29, 2005BELTON, SCOn Monday, August 29, 2005, Cheryl Jean Martin went joyfully into the arms of God. She resided at 1605 Breazeale Road, Belton, SC.She was born in Prince William County, VA at Quantico Marine Base. She moved to Anderson with her family in 1962 and graduated from T. L. Hanna High School. She graduated from Winthrop College with a degree in Home Economics Education and was a graduate fellow in Ornamental Textiles from Tokyo Kaisei Daigatku, Tokyo, Japan. She attended Clemson University graduate School and received her Masters in Consumer Science from Winthrop. She began her career with Duke Power Company in 1973 as a Home Economist in Anderson and held various marketing positions ending with Merchandising Supervisor in Winston-Salem, NC. She returned to Anderson in 1986 to become a State Farm Agent. As an agent, she was honored as a member of the President's Club and was designated Silver Scroll Legion of Honor. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Chancel Choir for more than 30 years, had served as a director of the children's choirs, a member of the worship committee and adult Sunday School teacher. She was active in the Junior Assembly of Anderson serving as President in 1986. She is survived by her parents, Herman and Connie Snipes Martin, her sister, Lynette Pannell, nephew and wife, Josh and Carrie Pannell and daughter, Mary DuPre, all of Anderson, nephew Specialist Charlie and wife, Bethany Pannell of Fort Carson, CO and nephew, Andy Pannell of Greenwood.She is also survived by her State Farm team: Sherrie Benfield and Harriett Henderson, and Josh Pannell and by a wonderful group of loyal and loving friends including the Friday Friends: Susan Ayen, Cherry and Jeannie Causey, Lynette Pannell and Jacque Post, Special friends, Sherilyn Hill and Rosanne Kinley and her other family, Fredda and Keith Culbreth and children, Susan Chandler and John Keith and Pat Mullen, who took such good care of her, and her constant companion, her Boykin Spaniel, 'Mulley'.PAGE TWO A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 4:00 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. William R. Childs.The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Parlor of the church.The family will be at the residence.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International Anderson Camp, P.O.
