Jeffrey Chris Brown, 68, of Anderson, SC, formerly of Lyman SC, passed away peacefully at NHC Anderson on Oct 23, 2021. Born March 28, 1953, he was the son of the late JC and Mildred Brown. Surviving family includes his brother, Leslie W. Brown (Les). Chris was born in Anderson Memorial Hospital and lived with his family in Walhalla, SC, before moving to Lyman where he grew up. A graduate of James F. Byrnes High School as well as Spartanburg Methodist College, he was a member of Lyman United Methodist Church, and a past president of the Lyman Jaycees, whose mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people. Growing up, Chris enjoyed water skiing, football, bowling, and had a love for music, mastering the piano and organ. Later he enjoyed playing pool with friends and was an active member of the APA. He enjoyed TV, reading, and especially loved to watch Clemson football, racing, WWE, and was an enthusiastic fan of redheads! At 17 Chris was involved in a work accident which left him partially paralyzed. After being hospitalized for 9 months, followed by rehabilitation at Roger C. Peace Center in Greenville, he returned home. No stranger to hospitals through the years, his gift of gab, positive disposition and abounding sense of humor allowed him talk to anybody about anything. Very grateful for his long-standing caregivers and an amazing spirit who drew a short straw early in life, Chris always pushed past his disability to find friendship and love. A social and gentle soul, who loved life, his family (especially his Lake Becky family) and friends, his smile and sense of humor will live forever, in a place where his physical limitations no longer exist. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Iva City Cemetery with Judge Jerry Mullikin officiating. The family will greet guests following the service.
