Christian Stephen Kistrup Sorensen, age 91, passed away on July 21, 2016, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Staten Island, NY on May 29, 1925, he was the son of the late Oscar Sorensen and the late Agnes Rose Sorensen. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, in the European Theatre. He was a graduate of the University of Florida with a Forestry degree and was a licensed surveyor. Chris was a member of Starr Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and sang in the choir. A life-long outdoor enthusiast, he was an Eagle Scout and Scout Master of Troop 127. Chris was involved in REVIVA, American Legion Post 44, and long-time volunteer with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Bell Sorensen; children, Steve Sorensen, Mike Sorensen, and Lee Sorensen Dansby; four grandchildren, Casey, Kelly, Katherine, and Christopher; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie Bullock Sorensen. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Starr Baptist Church with Reverend Tony Howell and Reverend Hudson White officiating. Interment at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Starr Baptist Church, 115 Stones Throw Avenue, Starr, SC 29684.
