Mary Jane Christine Adams Hicks, age 88, of 123 Hicks Drive, Starr, entered her Heavenly home on Monday, January 15, 2018, upon her death at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on January 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Adams and the late Bursie Crocker Adams Ferguson. For forty-eight years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Charles William Hicks, Sr. until his death in 1990. Mrs. Hicks was a spinner at Anderson Mill where she was employed for forty-eight years. She later worked at Wellington Mill, and in the cafeteria at Westside High School and Crescent High School. She was a faithful member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. In her later years, she attended Crossway Community Church. Survivors include two sons, Reverend C. W. Hicks and his wife Sue Ellen of Anderson, and Robert L. Hicks and his wife Adrienne of Starr; a daughter, Debbie Hawkins and her husband Larry of Starr; two sisters, Dot Saxon of Anderson and Betty Freeman of Pickens; nine grandchildren, Shannan Hicks Holland, Rodney Hicks, Kristi Hicks Kinley, Lee Hicks, Joey Hawkins, Scott Hawkins, Alisha Hicks Byrd, Michael Hicks, and Jason Hawkins; also surviving are thirty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by a son, Reverend Larry Wayne Hicks, a brother, John Adams, and a sister, Mildred "Boots" Gordon. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Christine Hicks will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend C. W. Hicks and Reverend Brent Lollis officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens located on Flat Rock Road, Starr.
