Obituary

Clarence Woodson Anderson, SC After a well-lived life, Clarence Lee Woodson, age 90, entered God's presence on Sunday, October 19, 2014. We celebrate his new body and rebirth. Born in Anderson, SC, on January 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Loyd and Bessie Haynie Woodson. He was retired from LaFrance Industries after 43 years of service. He was a faithful member of Oakwood Baptist Church, where he was known as "Mr. Sunday School", because he had perfect attendance in Sunday School for 65 years. Clarence was an avid gardener and a faithful Christian who loved his church. God gave him the gift of creating and repairing things with his hands. He was always proud of a job well done. He was God's humble servant and served his family and church in many ways. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints", (Psalm 116:15) "Well done thy good and faithful servant". He leaves behind a devoted wife of 70 years, Mrs. Velma Massey Woodson, of the home. He had two daughters, Mrs. Carol Petty and her husband Jenks, of Greenville, SC and Mrs. Janice Wilson and her husband, Rick, of Pendleton, SC. He had four precious granddaughters, Dana, Brooke, Brittney, and Makenzie. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Addison, Camden, Hudson, Tanner, and Presley. Clarence also leaves behind to cherish his memory, a faithful, loving brother, James Woodson, of Anderson, SC and a precious sister, Louise Cole, of Fort Mill, SC. The Service to celebrate the life of Clarence will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Reverend Jeff Davis and Dr. Willard Wagner. Those serving as pallbearers are Rick Wilson, Jenks Petty, Russell Lowery, Dan Cremmins, Taylor Brown, and David Turner. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials in his honor can be made to Oakwood Baptist Church, 304 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625, or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
