Gillespie, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Brookside Living Center.She was born in Anderson County, a graduate of Iva High School and was the daughter of the late John Tinsley Bruce and Iva Cromer Bruce. She was retired from Duke Power Co. after 25 years of service. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson, she was a faithful attendant of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Golden Agers. During her children's formative years, she was active in educational affairs and was a Scout Leader and served a term as president of the West Market Street School P.T.A.She is survived by her husband, Keith R. Gillespie; a daughter, Barbara Knox Whitlow; two sons, Samuel B. Knox and Larry W. Knox, all of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Bruce of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Margaret Hall of Anderson, SC and Hazel Bolan of Greenville, SC. In addition to her parents and her first husband, the late James Lacel Knox, she was preceded in death by a son, James Lacel Knox, Jr., and granddaughter, Susan Whitlow. Also three brothers and five sisters, James Thomas Bruce, Harold Tinsley Bruce and David Cromer Bruce; twin sisters, Ellen Bruce and Helen Harden and sisters, Iola Gable, Mary McPhail and Doris Lorey.A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 3:00 pm at Iva City Cemetery with the Reverend Jerry Hayes officiating.
