CLARIS WATT PAYNE January 26, 1921 - July 28, 2008ANDERSON, SCMrs. Claris Watt Payne, age 87, of 1601 Bolt Drive, wife of the late John Carl Payne, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at her residence.Born in Anderson, SC on January 26, 1921, Mrs. Payne was a daughter of the late John Charles Watt and Bessie Lou Hanks Watt and step-mother, Gladys Watt. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Company after 29 years of service and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Payne was a sweet, loving mother, grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her.Survivors include her sons, Thomas Payne of the home, Carl Payne and his wife, Mary of Columbia, SC and Bill Payne and his wife, Lynn of Anderson, SC; daughter, Betty Richey and her husband, Sam of Anderson, SC; brothers, Marion Watt of Anderson, SC and Johnny Watt of Easley, SC; sister, Linda Minish of Anderson; nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband of 65 years, parents and step-mother, she was predeceased by a brother, Malcomb Watt; sisters, Elizabeth Getsinger and Helen Webb and twin sister, Cleo Chambers.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Wayne Adams.
