Claude Ernest Bagwell, age 82, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Winston Salem, NC on July 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Joel W. Bagwell and the late Amelia Behre Bagwell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Capsco Inc. After retirement he worked with Recycling Centers for Anderson County. He enjoyed his Western movies. Claude recently received Christ in his heart. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Burns Bagwell; his children, Elaine Nix and Rick E. Bagwell; stepdaughters, Lisa Haynie and Karen McClain; a brother, Edwin Bagwell; and a son -in-law, Bill Owens; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his pride and joy, a Jack Russell, Lady. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Page Bagwell; daughters, Joyce Owens and Susan Hester; and a son, Joel E. Bagwell. The Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Graceland Cemetery West at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Rick Smith and Reverend Dr. Steve Silvey officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 4521 Liberty Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.
