Claude Wilton Jones Jr., age 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC on October 25th, 1926, he was the son of the late Claude Wilton Jones and the late Gertrude Wilson Jones. He is a 1943 graduate of Anderson Boys' High School, attended Furman University and went on to graduate from Carolina School of Commerce in 1948. He worked in the textiles and accounting industry, where he later retired. Mr. Jones was in the United States Navy where he proudly served in World War II as well as the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Anderson and Greenville American Legion, as well as the Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia Gaines Jones, of almost 60 years; a son, Randy "Bo" Jones and his wife Mary Lou Adams Jones; a daughter, Carol Lynn Jones Porter and her husband Leroy Porter; two grandchildren, Lindsey Blair Branyon and Matthew Douglas Branyon; and granddog, Tinkerbelle. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 21st, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to an organization of one's choice.
