CLAUDE W. REECE
February 23, 1920 - September 19, 2012
Claude W. Reece, age 92, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Knoxville, TN, on February 23, 1920, he was the son of the late Andrew P. Reece and the late Minnie Hooper Reece. He was a Heavy Bomber Pilot with the 8th Air Force in England during WWII. He completed a tour of 30 combat missions against enemy occupied Europe. He received several decorations for Valor during the war. He received the first high school diploma from the SC State Superintendent of Education for WWII Veterans whose education was interrupted because of the war. Mr. Reece was formerly a field investigator with the ABC board of the SC Tax Commission and a Test Supervisor for the Dairy Science Department of Clemson University. He later founded Reece Construction Company and developed several sub-divisions and restored and remodeled some of Anderson's oldest homes. He was a life member of VFW, DAV and a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson.
Those left to cherish his memories are a daughter, Patricia Beebe and her husband Thomas; four grandchildren, Connie Watt, Randy Beebe, Scotty Howell, and Bryon Howell; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Reece Watt, Noah Brayden Howell, Charles Michael Beebe, Thomas Austin Beebe, Kenadie Haven Howell, Brittney Elizabeth Watt, Lacey Brooke Howell and Kendall Loren Howell; and three nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Powell Reece; a son, Clarence "Jubie" Howell; and two brothers, Milton and Jack Reece.
The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by Campbell Patriots Post 184.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Patricia, 912 Country Meadows and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
