CLAUDIA P. HARDEN ANDERSON, SC Mrs. Claudia Prevost Harden, age 103, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at her residence. Born in Anderson, SC, on August 2, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. Prevost and the late Sue Sloan Crawford Prevost. She received a degree from Anderson College and became a teacher for the Anderson School District 5, where she taught for 29 years. She was the oldest living teacher in District 5. Mrs. Harden was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. She is survived by her grandson, Ben Richard Phillips, Jr., of Anderson, SC; her son-in-law, Ben Richard Phillips, Sr., of Anderson; a nephew, David Cathcart, of Charlotte, NC; two nieces, Sue Turner, of Anderson, SC and Marshall Krakeel, of Atlanta, GA; special family members from Danville, VA, The Haynesworth family; five great-nephews and two great nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Harden; a daughter, Judy Harden Phillips; a grandson, Bryon Harden Phillips; and two sisters, Mary Belle Cathcart and Sue Thompson. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. Interment will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the residence, 806 Concord Avenue, and will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, 302 West Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
