ALLEAN MC ELRATH December 23, 1939 - August 29, 2008STARR, SCMrs. Claudia Allean Smith McElrath, age 68, wife of James Douglas McElrath of 440 McElrath Road, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Anderson, SC on December 23, 1939, Mrs. McElrath was a daughter of the late James Garner Smith and Bessie Holbrook Smith. She retired from Orian Rugs and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. Survivors include her husband of the home; sons, James McElrath, Jr., and his wife, Diane of Starr, Charles McElrath and his wife, Marla of Anderson and Marshall McElrath of Starr; daughters, Dianne Evans and her husband, Eddie; Marie McElrath; Charlene Vaughn and her husband, Brendan, all of Starr; brother, Hoyt Smith of Anderson; sisters, Phyllis Pettigrew of Anderson and Hazel Calloway of Iva; eight grandchildren, Brenda Payne, Tina Carroll, April Greenway, Crystal Teate, Jenna Johnson, Ashley McElrath, Chase McElrath and Audree Vaughn; twelve great-grandchildren, Cody, Savannah, Blake, Sydney, Courtney, Emily, Dale, Michael, Tyler, Hagen, McKenzie and Shyann.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Smith; a sister, Ellen Sanders; grandchild, Douglas Dale Moore and a great grandchild, Bradley Tucker.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Temple officiated by the Reverend Sam Duncan. Interment will follow in South Lawn Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, August 31, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.The family will be at the home of her daughter & son-in-law, Dianne and Eddie Evans, 500 McElrath Road, Starr, SC.Flowers are optional.
