OBITUARYFLAG'BUB' SPEARESFebruary 17, 1926 - June 23, 2007ANDERSON, SCClifton William Speares Sr., age 81, husband of Ella Mae Burden Speares, of 232 Brentwood Circle, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson on February 17, 1926, Mr. Speares was a son of the late Homer Speares and Hattie Mae Speares. He was an insurance salesman and retired from Independent Life Insurance Company after 27 years service. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Clifton William 'Bill' Speares Jr. of Anderson; a brother, Rob Speares of Anderson, three sisters, Betty Jean Burdette, Opal Finley, and Ruby Craft, all of Anderson. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Corey Speares, Tonya Hawkins, and Roger Dale Richey and six great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Speares and his sister, Sybil Gunnin.The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 2:00 pm in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Reverend John Daniel and the Reverend Bennie Speares.
