Clyde Donald Turner, age 74, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his home. Born in Spartanburg, SC on June 8, 1944, he was the son of the late Ernest Odell Turner and the late Mattie Gertrude Turner. He proudly served his country in the United States Army earning the rank of Sargent E-5 in the 25th Infantry Division during Vietnam. He retired from Bellsouth after many years of service. Clyde served in earlier years as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Outreach Baptist Church and was currently a member of Spartanburg First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lynn McGarity Turner; his daughter Kimberly Welborn; his son, David Turner; a step-son Darren Stephens (Susan); two step-daughters, Angela Stephens, and Tracey Kovell (Rod); a sister, Marceil Mixon; two brothers, Bill Turner and J.T. Turner; and grandchildren, Turner Welborn (Lauren), Caroline Welborn, Hannah Welborn; step-grandchildren, Alex Kovell, and Sean Jackson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda High Turner; a sister, Earline Cheek; two brothers, Paul Turner and Carrol Turner; and a son-in-law, David Welborn. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Sunday, in the Chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 pm with Reverend Sal Barone officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
