COLONEL JAMES W. BUSHEY
Colonel James W. Bushey, US Air Force retired, of Anderson, SC, passed away on May 5, 2015. His life will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass at Ft. Myer Chapel and interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Colonel Bushey was born in 1939 in Little Chute, Wisconsin, to Walter and Theresa Bushey. He married Thellis Guthrie in 1957, and together they had three children, Leigh Ann, Mark, and Scott.
He graduated from Auburn University in 1961 and later earned an MBA from the University of Utah. His military education included USAF Squadron Officers School, US Army Command and General Staff College, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and the National War College.
Colonel Bushey served thirty years on active duty with the US Air Force. He was a Command Pilot with combat hours flown in Southeast Asia. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
He was deeply loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Crouse of Fairfax, VA; sons, Mark W. Bushey of Jacksonville, FL, and Scott R. Bushey of Simpsonville, SC; six granddaughters, Jessica, Lauren, Rachel, Suzanne, Melissa, and Caroline; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Kennedy.
