Constance Fredericka Dwane Mackay, 91, of Belton South Carolina passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.
Born January 8, 1929 in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Dwane and Annie Keating Dwane.
Connie was a graduate of McGill University in Montreal where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics food science and nutrition. She served an internship in dietetics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She worked as a nutritionist while living in Montreal, Oklahoma and New Hampshire.
Connie was a devout Catholic, a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anderson for many years, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Secular Franciscans and former president of the Council of Catholic Women in New Hampshire and South Carolina.
She loved animals, often taking in the stray cats and dogs that followed her home.
Connie was active in her senior years doing volunteer work and as a member of Saint Joseph's Hilltoppers, Tolly Arts and Crafts Group and Senior Follies in Anderson.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Stuart Mackay, their daughter Audrey Mackay and granddaughter Mia Cecchine. Also surviving is a daughter Barbara Bellm White from a previous relationship and grandson Anthony Miranda.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters, Virginia Schieber, Marguerita Moquin, Kathleen Battcock and Fidelus Crawford.
The funeral service will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1200 Cornelia Rd, Anderson SC, on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11:00 am with Father Philip S. Gillespie officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E. Calhoun St., Anderson SC 29621.
