S. Cook Johnson, age 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his home.

Born August 20, 1942, in Hartwell, GA, he was a son of the late Barnett Johnson and Eunice Cook Johnson. He was married to Carolyn Cheek Johnson until her death in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Joel Johnson, Bennie Max Johnson, Reba Vickery, Reatha Brown, Myrtie Mae McCollum, Elizabeth Bowers, Claudie Lee Richardson, Ruth Brown, and Clara Jean Johnson. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Cook was a barber for 60 years and was the owner of City Barber Shop in Iva. He was a hard worker who was dedicated to his barber shop. He was a prayer warrior, faithfully reading his Bible, and thoroughly enjoyed his morning devotion time. He was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. Cook will be remembered as a devoted family man who loved and took care of his family.

He is survived by his children, Mark Johnson and Kathy Patterson (Bobby); grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Sarah Webber, Daniel Patterson, Andrew Johnson, River Duncan, and Gracie Patterson; and great grandchildren, Zoie Johnson, Jacob Webber, Chaselyn Patterson, and Carter Patterson.

The family would like to thank the staff, doctors, and nurses of Hospice of the Upstate, especially Shannon and Susan, for the care provided to Cook.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 31, 2023, from 1:00-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. David Blizzard officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Kathy, 403 Regency Circle, Anderson, SC.
