Army Ret'd, age 71, of 803 Bermuda Drive, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson, SC on March 15, 1939, Mr. Porter was a son of the late Arthur C. Porter and Mary Arlene Vaughan Porter. He was a 1958 graduate of Boys' High School and served in the United States Army, retiring after twenty eight years of service with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Annette Smith Porter of the home; daughters, Teresa Spaulding and her husband, Bobby of Manchester, TN and Bonnie Campbell and her husband Mark of Belton; brother, Anthony Porter of Anderson, SC; sister, Nancy Hursey of Virginia; four grandchildren, Thomas James Billingsley, Amanda Spaulding, Krystna Parido and Justin Spaulding and three great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Thomas Michael Porter; three brothers and two sisters.The Funeral Service will be held with Military Honors on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 3:00 pm at M. J.
