CURTIS W. PLUMMER
Curtis W. Plummer, age 79, passed away at his residence on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2015. Born on September 25, 1935, in Darlington County, SC, he was the son of the late Glen L. Plummer and the late Bessie Odom Plummer. For sixty-one years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Mrs. Martha Lloyd Plummer of the residence.
Following high school graduation, he obtained a business degree from Carolina College of Commerce located in Florence, SC. Mr. Plummer was employed for many years in the welding and safety supply business, working in manufacturing, wholesale and retail sales within that industry. In 1984, he opened his own business, Industrial Welding and Safety Supply, Inc., which he owned and operated with his sons until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Plummer's belief was that knowledge is no good unless it is passed on to others. He lived out that belief and was an excellent mentor to those coming along in the business. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Martha, Curtis is survived by two sons, Glenn W. Plummer and his wife, Julie, of Anderson, and Jeffrey A. Plummer and his wife, Amy, of Anderson; a daughter, Cordelia P. Pappas and her husband, James, of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Bobby R. Plummer and his wife, Mary Lou, of Lamar, SC, and Lyndal W. Plummer of London, KY; also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Plummer was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Plummer.
The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Curtis Plummer will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Teasley officiating. The family will receive friends at Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place on Friday, May 15, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Mr. Plummer be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 1809 N. Main Street, Anderson, SC 29621.
