Curtis Dean Simpson, age 83, of 125 Sunset Drive, Iva, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Abbeville County on September 15, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Ansel Simpson and the late Annie Timms Simpson. For thirty-six years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Linda Latham Simpson of the home. Mr. Simpson was a graduate of Antreville High School where he played basketball. He was employed as a Supervisor with Owens Corning Fiberglass, retiring after thirty-four years of service. Curtis proudly served his country in the National Guard, retiring after twenty-three years. He was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Holiness Worship Center in Starr, SC, where he served the church as a deacon. In addition to his wife, Linda, Mr. Simpson is survived by a son, Curtis Dale Simpson and his wife, Connie of Abbeville; three daughters, Cheri Diane Smith and her husband, Jerry, of Belton, Cathy Lynn Vaughn of Starr, and Marla Collier and her husband, Travis, of Anderson; also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Howard Ansel Simpson; two sisters, Sybiline Stone and Evelyn Faye Simpson. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Curtis D. Simpson will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ron Lawson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
