Dallas 'Pete' GreerMay 29, 1934 - October 16, 2008IVA, SCMr. Dallas 'Pete' Burton Greer, 74, of 546 Charles ' Reed Road, Iva, SC, died Thursday, October 16, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born May 29, 1934 in Anderson County, Mr. Greer was a son to the late William Dallas 'Dick' Greer and Ellen Burton Greer Russell. He attended Welcome School in Anderson County and graduated from White Plains High School, Class of 1952. He served in the United State Air Force. Mr. Greer worked in the construction industry for many years, but became self-employed as a produce salesman. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans.Survivors include his two sons, Ronald Greer, and his wife, Lynn, and Micheal Greer, and his wife Cathy, all of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Marie Hendrix and her husband, Jim, of Starr, SC and Connie Greer of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Larry E. Greer, and William W. Greer, both of Anderson, SC, and John L. Greer of Gordon, GA; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.In addition to his parents, Mr. Greer, was preceded in death by his wife Jean Segars McKinley Greer, one brother, Jones 'Frank' Greer, and infant sister, Linda L. Greer.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Reverends Ken Keaton and Gene Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. Mr. Greer will be placed in the church on Sunday at 2:00 pm.The family will be at the home of his son, Michael Greer, 1335 Pearl Harbor Way, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
