Daltha Bowen Daltha "Mema" Harris Bowen, age 81, of Anderson, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on December 3, 1932, in Vanna, GA, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon Harris, Sr. and the late Annie Skelton Harris. For 58 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Kenneth M. Bowen of Anderson. Following graduation from Hart County High School, Mrs. Bowen attended and graduated from nursing school at Anderson Memorial Hospital, after which she practiced many years as a registered nurse. Working in her flower gardens and loving her family were Daltha's favorite pastimes. She loved the Lord and attended Providence Baptist Church. In addition to her husband Kenneth, she is survived by 2 sons, Dr. Bruce K. Bowen (Laura) of Danielsville, GA; Mark A. Bowen (Denise) of Anderson; 2 daughters, Debbie B. Wilbanks (Dwight) of Starr; and Jill B. Bowen (James) of Anderson; 1 brother, Winston S. Harris, 1 sister, Winona H. Weaver both of Hartwell; 8 grandchildren, Josh, Amanda, Jon, Marcus, Jeannie, and Rebecca Bowen, Kendra and Kameron O'Barr and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Daltha was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 4 sisters. A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Bowen will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Kinard officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Bowen may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4520 Dobbins Bridge Road, Anderson, SC 29626.
