The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29621864-224-4343OBITUARYFLAG DAN DIMOND February 9, 1931 - June 4, 2010ANDERSON, SCDan Dimond, age 79, of Anderson Place, and husband of the late Mary Louise Lyons Dimond, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Hart, Michigan on February 9, 1931, Mr. Dimond was the son of the late Daniel Dimond and Violet Christiansen Dimond. He served in the United States Navy, from 1950 until 1954, during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S Wright, as a shipboard fire fighter. He was formerly a Civil Engineer with the Michigan Highway Dept. and retired after working 30 years with the West Virginia Highway Dept. as a Civil Engineer. Survivors include two sons; Harold L. Dimond, of Charlotte, NC and Douglas J. Dimond and his wife, Kim, of Anderson, SC; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 2:00 pm at M.J. 'Dolly' Cooper Veterans Cemetery officiated by Chaplain Steve Shugart. Military honors will be provided by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.The family would like to thank all of the caring & gracious staff of AnMed Health Medical Center for the special treatment shown to Mr. Dimond.
