Daniel Wayne Murphy, age 80, of Easley, SC, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Piedmont Post Acute.

Born July 21, 1944, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late John Gormley Murphy and Constance Rego Murphy.

Dan was formerly a police and security officer and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a true patriot who loved Jesus and his country. He would always tell people that his wife Betty "saved his life by giving him a book…the Bible" and he was faithful to read it every day. He was quick witted, had a great sense of humor, and loved to tell stories. Dan was a good man who never failed to give back to others and faithfully donated to Miracle Hill Ministries and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. More than anything, he loved his family, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Betty Bryant Murphy; sons, Michael K. Murphy and Sean Timothy Murphy; daughter, Cindy Jones; grandchildren, Jessica Vaughn, Logan Murphy and Reagan Murphy; and great grandchildren, Sawyer and Donovan.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 10:00 am at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
