Daniel Lee "Pop" Simmons, Sr., age 65, of Anderson, SC, dedicated husband to Gloria Carr Simmons for almost 49 years, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born February 21, 1956, in Clarksville, GA, he was the son of the late Grover Simmons and Maudine Hamilton Simmons. He worked as an automotive mechanic and was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling and Gunsmoke, going out on the lake fishing, listening to Blue Grass Gospel music, and most of all, spending time with his family. In addition to his loving wife, Gloria, he is survived by his son, Daniel Lee Simmons, Jr. of Anderson, SC; daughter, Sheila Rebecca Black (Dennis) of Anderson, SC; foster daughter, Tammy Karr; bonus daughter, Rayla Simmons of Pendleton, SC; nine grandchildren, Deirdre (Austin), Aaron (Lisa), Ethan (Tiffany), Amber (Dwayne), Cody, Bubba, Mason, Brendon, and McKenna; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Jessie Simmons of Belton, SC; sisters, Blondine Ware of Anderson, SC, and Lou Bramblett of Belton, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ledeena Simmons; brother, Stancil Simmons; and sister, Vinnie Frady. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
