Dave Madison Franklin, III, age 63, of Anderson, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born February 20, 1959, in Anderson and was a son of the late Dave Madison Franklin, Jr. and Cynthia Lucille Humphries Franklin. Dave was a 1981 graduate of Clemson University School of Nursing. He was employed with Anderson Memorial Hospital for approximately 14 years before becoming the first Director of Nursing at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. He then joined the staff of NHC Healthcare before spending the last 18 years of his career as the Executive Director of Nursing at The Healthcare Center at Standifer Place in Chattanooga, TN. Dave was committed to his patients, his staff and excellence in healthcare. Dave was the former Children's Minister at Northside Baptist Church for more than 10 years where he dedicated his time and talent in sharing the love of Jesus and the Gospel. He was a talented singer and cast member of many local theater productions. Dave spent his life serving others and the lives he touched are immeasurable. After being a child of God, being a husband, father, and "Poppy" were his favorite roles in life. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Debby Whitfield Franklin; children, Justin Rhodes (Christy), Brandon Rhodes (Ashley), Holly Franklin, and Preston Franklin; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Callie Rhodes; siblings, Tanya McCoy, Darryl Franklin (Beverly), Dale Franklin (Laurel), and Doug Franklin (Samantha); mother-in-law, Elizabeth Stegall; and sisters-in-law, Cynthia Whitfield and Karen Griffin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 12:00-2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Rob White and Rev. Scotty Jernigan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
