David Truman Boyles, age 75, of Belton, SC, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. David was the devoted husband to Rebecca Dye Boyles for 17 years. Born December 30, 1947, in Philippi, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Boyles and Phyllis Rodgers Boyles. David proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Signal Corpsman in Vietnam. He then attended Clemson University, majoring in Civil Engineering and also earning his position on the football team as a freshman walk-on. As a result, from his valued time spent at Clemson, he developed a special love for the university. After graduating he began his career as a civil engineer, later building bridges in Anderson County. He also worked as a remodeler and 3rd generation cabinet maker. He served as a deacon of Central First Baptist Church and as a member of the Central town council. When he was able, he attended Second Baptist Church of Belton and American Legion Post 51. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Paige Boyles, Megan Robinson (Kevin), Vanessa Epps (Steven), and Felicia Whitfield (David); siblings, Craig Boyles (Betty), Lycia Golson (Joe), Phillip Boyles (Meg), Mark Boyles (Sallie), Beth Martinez (Herman), Nathan Boyles, Sarah Douglas (Richard), Sam Boyles (Sonya), and Aaron Boyles (Traci); grandchildren, Sunday Robinson, Drew Epps (Morgan), Katie Morgan (Baylon), and Emmett Vaughn; numerous nieces and nephews; and special dog, Penny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Chad Moore officiating. A committal service will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. Honors will be provided by the Campbell Patriots. The family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
